First day of school goes smoothly in Marshall as high school merger with Albion becomes reality

MARSHALL - Worries about merging two vastly different schools gave way to fears about finding the right classroom on time as Albion high schoolers headed to Marshall High School for the first day of the academic year on Tuesday. Buses from Albion arrived at Marshall High at about 7:20 a.m.

Albion, Marshall superintendents work on merging high schools

In 1979, a young man applying for a job at Albion's Starr Commonwealth put this as the mission statement on his resume: "I want to be doing something significant and impactful for youth." At about the same time, a young woman was making her first foray into education and wrote this atop her resume: "I want to be a change agent and be on the cutting edge."
