Surplus allowed city to pay off deficit from beginning of fiscal year
BENTON HARBOR - The city of Benton Harbor officially has no deficit and is on the road to recovery. That was the message given Monday by Stephen Blann, an auditor with Rehmann Robson in Grand Rapids, on the city's audit for the fiscal year that ended June 30.

DETROIT, MI - Highland Park, a city located inside Detroit, is facing another financial emergency. Gov. Rick Snyder confirmed his finding that a financial emergency exists in Highland Park, which now has seven days to decide how it will proceed under state law.
