KALAMAZOO, MI - In letters written Thursday to Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's top official, U.S. Rep. Fred Upton and U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin reiterated their support for the removal of PCB-contaminated materials from the Allied Paper site.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) announced Friday that he will not run for Senate next year, a recruiting setback for Republicans hoping to compete in a purple state with an open seat. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said he believes he can accomplish more in the House, with his committee perch and his party in the majority.

Former Secretary of State Terry Lynn Land plans run for U.S. Senate

Former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land will run for the Republican nomination to replace Democrat Carl Levin in the U.S. Senate. Land is the first Republican to announce a bid for the seat. U.S. Rep Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, U.S. Rep Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township, have both said they are considering to run, but have not commented further.
