Bill for animal abuse registry delayed in Senate

Logan’s Law would also demand that pet stores and animal shelters refuse animal sales and adoptions to offenders on the list.
A proposal to establish an animal abuser registry in Michigan has been put on hold in the Senate. There was no vote held at today's Senate Judiciary Meeting regarding Logan's Law. Logan's Law is a bill that, if passed, would create a registry for people convicted of animal abuse.

Low-income kids with autism can access new treatment

According to an official from the Michigan Department of Community Health, the treatment helps children with autism spectrum disorder to have better social skills and improve behavior.
Tuesday the familiar green tinge of the Mackinac Bridge has turned blue, to promote Autism Awareness month. Two state-run insurance plans are also taking on the autism issue, with a decision to expand coverage for behavioral therapy. Michild and Medicaid have expanded their coverage to include a specific type of therapy that low-income children did not previously have access too.

State police force increases

The Michigan State Police swore in 90 new troopers on Friday.
Michigan has 90 new state police troopers. The troopers were sworn in Friday in Lansing. The new troopers join a Michigan State Police force that is at its lowest staffing levels since the 1960's. Governor Rick Snyder promised the new troopers that will change.
