Eastern Michigan University considers in-state tuition for veterans, undocumented residents

Eastern Michigan University is poised to join a growing number of public universities in Michigan that offer in-state tuition for undocumented residents. EMU administrators will ask the Board of Trustees on Tuesday to approve a plan that would make anyone who attended a Michigan high school for at least three years and graduated from the high school eligible for in-state tuition.

Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin is expected to get an extension on her contract Friday, in spite of recent troubles with alcohol consumption, a university official close to the issue said Thursday. The EMU Board of Regents will hold a special meeting at noon today to vote on Martin's contract, which ends in July.
