KALAMAZOO, MI -- Seven Kalamazoo-area school districts, Kalamazoo Public Library, Kalamazoo and St. Joseph intermediate school districts and cities of Bangor and Galesburg are holding elections today. The two marquee events for Kalamazoo County voters: A request by the Kalamazoo Public Library to renew a 1.18-mill operating tax for 20 years and a request by the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency to renew a 1.5-mill school enhancement tax for three years.

Saint Joseph ISD voters reject tax proposal

A Headlee override on the St. Joseph ISD's 2.75-mill special education levy failed by an unofficial tally of 1,018 votes in favor to 1,150 against. In Van Buren County, a nonhomestead tax was renewed for Lawrence schools, while Hartford Township voters renewed road and fire taxes.
