State House committee passes bill that limits fees for public records

LANSING - Public bodies would be limited in what they could charge for copying public records under the Freedom of Information Act under a bill passed by a House committee Tuesday. The bill would allow public bodies to charge $0.10 per page for documents requested by anyone under the Freedom of Information Act.

Bills would limit how much governments could charge for copies of public records
LANSING - Reforms to the Freedom of Information Act laws would, in theory, make it easier and cheaper for citizens to access public records. That's good news for media outlets and ordinary citizens alike who are investigating the departments that provide local and state services.
