Michigan mayors back gun magazine limits

Washington - Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and 11 other Michigan municipal chiefs joined more 850 other mayors in backing legislation to ban high-capacity magazines that can hold more than 10 bullets. The coalition led by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Thomas Menino sent a letter to congressional leaders backing legislation that seeks to prevent mass shootings by gunmen with high-capacity magazines.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Framing it as a moral issue, leaders of Kalamazoo's Northside Ministerial Alliance called Tuesday for local, state and federal leaders to enact stricter laws controlling guns, particularly assault weapons.

Rep. Amash discusses budget and guns in Calhoun County town hall meetings

Amash held town hall meetings Saturday in Battle Creek and Marshall.
U.S. Rep. Justin Amash said he and House Speaker John Boehner are on better terms now than they were late last year when Amash was kicked off the House Budget Committee, a move seen as retaliation for Amash's independent voting record.
