Kalamazoo/Battle Creek Airport Awarded Federal Grant of $1.46-million

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport will receive a $1,469,000 federal grant to help it acquire land and make physical improvements at the airfield. A grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, via the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program, was announced Tuesday by U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin.

UPDATE: Airport director on paid leave following harassment complaint

Yesterday the airport authority board voted to let their attorneys begin discussions on Cliff Moshiginis’s separation of employment with his lawyers.
KALAMAZOO, MI - While attorneys for Kalamazoo County and Cliff Moshoginis are discussing his separation from employment as director of the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport, his leave will be paid. On Tuesday, the Kalamazoo County aeronautics board voted unanimously to allow its attorneys begin discussing separation from employment with the attorneys of Cliff Moshoginis, who has been on leave since at least Sept.

Fake coyotes scare birds at Kalamazoo airport

The airport uses animated coyote decoys to scare away Canada geese that can pose a threat to aircraft landing or taking off.
KALAMAZOO, MI - The snarling, crouching coyotes seen lurking about the Kalamazoo Battle Creek International Airport this summer still startle the employees- even though they know the animals are only decoys, relocated by operations staff every day or two to keep small animals and large birds away from the airport runways.
