Zeeland Schools to Help Pay for Lawsuit Against Consumers Energy

Utility has filed a complaint with the Michigan Tax Tribunal over assessment of generating facility in Zeeland
The Zeeland Public Schools Board of Education agreed this week to foot a portion of possible litigation that could result as the city of Zeeland takes on Consumers Energy in a tax dispute.The vote brings the district on board with the city, Ottawa County and the West Michigan Airport Authority, who have all agreed to pay set portions of any necessary legal and/or expert witness fees in the future.The city is still seeking cost-sharing agreements with the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District

PAW PAW, MI - With hundreds of thousands of dollars a year at stake, the Van Buren County Board of Commissioners agreed to contract with another expert for its appeal against the lowering of the assessment of New Covert Generating Company. Commissioners on Tuesday approved hiring Concentric Energy Advisors of Marlborough, Mass., to assist the legal team.
