160 micro breweries in state with more on way helps create demand for hops
EATON RAPIDS - It looks less like a flower and more like a small cone the size of a thumb. But stick a handful of them under your nose and the scent is undeniable. "They smell just like beer," said Paul Malewski as he held out a handful of dried hops from last year's harvest at Mid Michigan Hops Inc.

Legislation would allow craft brewers to increase output

Governor Snyder supports bills to allow breweries to produce more each year
Lansing- Michigan's burgeoning craft beer industry is backing a bipartisan package of bills to loosen the state's complex array of brewery regulations and allow further expansion. While lawmakers and craft beer industry officials agree the reforms are needed, some microbrewery owners argue the steps may not be enough to jolt the industry into much higher growth.
