KALAMAZOO, MI - Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes, a community-based emergency food program in Kalamazoo County since 1982, announced Monday that its public relations director will succeed Anne Wend Lipsey as Executive Director. Jennifer Johnson, currently resource development and public relations director, will begin her new job March 24; Lipsey will retire on March 28 after 11 years as director.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Zach Bauer, executive director of the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center, will leave that post soon to join the community investment team with the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. Bauer, who is credited with leading the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center forward, expanding its capacity, doubling its staff and cultivating important relationships since March of 2011, is expected to make the transition this March.

KALAMAZOO, MI - The United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region launched its 2014 fund-raising campaign Tuesday with a goal of $14.5 million. That is less than the $15.3 goal that was surpassed for 2013. But Michael Larson, president and chief executive officer of the organization, said each year's goal is selected after a lot of input from the community.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- A grassroots campaign has started to help the Douglass Community Association raise $100,000 in 30 days as the organization faces a funding deadline, Kalamazoo City Commissioner Stephanie Moore said. Moore said a grassroots campaign has started with an effort to raise $100,000 to help the organization "bridge a funding gap."
