Oaklawn Hospital announces elimination of 21 jobs

MARSHALL - Oaklawn Hospital announced the elimination of 21 jobs Thursday. According to a news release, 10 people will lose their jobs and 11 of the positions are being reassigned or not filled. All of the eliminated positions are described as leadership positions. No hourly positions are being cut.

Marshall approves district for hospital expansion

MARSHALL - After months of refining an ordinance that would allow for future expansion of Oaklawn Hospital, the Marshall City Council on Monday evening approved the Hospital Campus Overlay District. Discussion on the ordinance was brief, but council members praised the effort and collaboration of the parties involved in the three-year discussion -- city staff, Oaklawn Hospital and members of the Marshall Neighborhood Association.

Deal reached on overlay district for Marshall's Oaklawn Hospital

The Marshall Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the Hospital Campus Overlay District, a move that was previously made but didn't meet state zoning law requirements. Marshall City Council voted to rescind the HCOD following a referendum petition and lawsuit and send it back to the planning commission for a proper public hearing.

Marshall City Council rescinds overlay district for Oaklawn Hospital

The Hospital Campus Overlay District will be sent back to the Marshall Planning Commission after city council voted to rescind the ordinance. At its regular meeting Monday, council members unanimously voted to rescind the ordinance, which details additional zoning regulations for Oaklawn Hospital’s expansion plans over the next 20 years.

MARSHALL - Next to a hand-drawn map of Oaklawn Hospital's zoning areas he had taped to a wall, Martin Overhiser pleaded with city council members to "step back" and allow the community to discuss other options. "Please," the president of the Marshall Neighborhood Association said, "let us have a go at working it out.
