OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI - Plans to build a Costco warehouse club store at Drake Road and Stadium Drive pushed ahead Thursday night with approval of its site plan application by the Oshtemo Township Planning Commission. The seven-member commission ended a nearly three-hour discussion of the project with unanimous approval of a site plan application by local developer Joe Gesmundo and his American Village Builders.

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI -- Residents of a subdivision in Oshtemo Township are calling foul after several mailboxes were torn down by the Kalamazoo County Road Commission Monday to enforce its encroachment policy for non-conforming mailboxes. Among the mailboxes removed was NFL star Greg Jenning's unit, according to residents of the WestPort Trails subdivision.

Oshtemo anti-discrimination ordinance passes

Trustee Dave Bushouse cast the lone dissenting vote, saying that he didn't think the township had jurisdiction on the issue.
The non-discrimination ordinance, closely modeled on one recently adopted by Kalamazoo Township, prohibits discrimination in housing, public accommodation or employment based on race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, height, weight, marital status, familial status, citizenship, physical or mental disability, gender identity, sexual orientation or genetic information.

The Oshtemo Township Board of Trustees met in closed session Tuesday to discuss its response to a ruling from the Michigan Public Service Commission that granted a certificate of public convenience and necessity to ITC for its proposed Weeds Lake project.
