Part-time parking employees to replace contract workers in Kalamazoo

Lead in text:
The Kalamazoo city commission voted last night to let the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety hire three new part-time employees. By not renewing their contract with AMPCO System Parking, Kalamazoo Police Chief Jeff Hadley says the city will save about $200,000.
Commissioners approved in a 6-0 vote the plan that would allow the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety to hire three non-union civilians for the jobs instead of renewing a contract with AMPCO System Parking. Hiring in-house instead of renewing the $316,000 contract would save the city about $200,000, KDPS Chief Jeff Hadley has said.
