KALAMAZOO, MI - Stryker Corp. has agreed to pay at least $1.4 billion to settle thousands of lawsuits by U.S. patients who had surgeries to revise problematic Stryker hip replacements. The settlement in New Jersey's Bergen County Superior Court is intended to compensate individuals who had to have surgery to replace either of two Stryker products -- the Rejuvenate Modular-Neck hip stem and/or ABG II Modular-Neck hip stem.

KALAMAZOO, MI - Charges associated with product recalls and acquisitions of other companies resulted in a big drop in first-quarter net earnings for medical products company Stryker Corp. The Kalamazoo-based company reported net earnings of $70 million, a 77-percent decrease from first quarter 2013, with diluted net earnings per share of 18 cents, reflecting a 77.2 percent drop from diluted per-share earnings during the first quarter a year ago.

KALAMAZOO, MI -Stryker Corp. reports solid growth in sales and earnings for fourth-quarter and full-year 2013. For the fourth quarter, the period ended Dec. 31, the Kalamazoo-based medical technologies company reported net earnings of $386 million, a 43 percent increase over $270 million in reported net earnings during fourth-quarter 2012.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- An investigation by federal authorities found that Stryker Corp. subsidiaries in five foreign countries made illicit payments and tried for several years to bribe doctors, health care professionals and government-employed officials in order to obtain or retain business. Stryker has agreed to pay more than $13.2 million to settle the charges.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Costs related to product recalls and the acquisition of other operations weighed down third quarter earnings for Stryker Corp. But sales and earnings from ongoing operations were solid, the Kalamazoo-based company reported.
