KALAMAZOO, MI - The decidedly partisan crowd of about 100 fans did nothing to intimidate Collin Altamirano, the boys 18s fifth seed from Sacramento, who defeated Kalamazoo's Paul Oosterbaan, 7-5, 6-1, Monday afternoon at the USTA Boys 18-16 National Championships. "I think it's great that they cheer for him," Altamirano said.

KALAMAZOO, MI - A field reduced from 192 players to 128 in each division is just one of several changes to this year's USTA Boys 18-16 National Championships. Another is that the tournament spans nine days this year rather than 10. But much of the tradition of the tournament, in its 72nd year in Kalamazoo, will remain the same.

KALAMAZOO, MI - Collin Altamirano couldn't stop grinning as he posed for photos, made a speech and accepted his place in USTA Boys 18 National Championship history. By defeating Jared Donaldson, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, in the best of five boys 18s finals match, Altamirano became the first unseeded player in the tournament's 71 years in Kalamazoo to win a singles title.
