Battle Creek Issuing Tickets for Snow Covered Sidewalks

The city of Battle Creek has issued 260 tickets since the beginning of this year to residents and property owners for unshoveled sidewalks. During a tough winter with large amounts of snowfall and frigid temperatures, code enforcement officials have been handing citations to those who aren't abiding by a city ordinance that requires them to clear public sidewalks next to their property of fallen or drifted snow.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Kalamazoo city officials say frozen water lines could persist through May as the city deals with an unusual winter wreaking havoc on the water system. Kalamazoo City Manager Jim Ritsema held a rare Kalamazoo City Hall press conference Friday morning reiterating the city's warning issued Thursday evening telling customers to run water from one faucet at a pencil-sized stream until further notice.

Kalamazoo City Officials Issue Warning to Residents to Continue Running Water

KALAMAZOO, MI - Kalamazoo city officials on Thursday issued a stronger warning about the importance of running a tap constantly until April. The Kalamazoo Water Department has upgraded its previous "water run advisory" to a warning and is also asking customers to run the water at a pencil-sized stream as opposed to the toothpick-sized flow it had previously requested to allow a greater flow, according to a press release.
