KALAMAZOO, MI - Kalamazoo County Board Chair David Maturen announced his candidacy today for the 63rd District state House seat in 2014. The 63rd District, which encompasses portions of eastern Kalamazoo and western Calhoun counties, is currently represented by state Rep. and Speaker of the House Jase Bolger, who isn't eligible to run again because of term limits.

KALAMAZOO, MI - Kalamazoo Township Trustee Pamela Goodacre has announced she will join a contested field of Democrats in the race for the 60th District state House seat in 2014. Goodacre becomes the third Democrat -- along with Kalamazoo County Commissioner David Buskirk and Jon Hoadley -- vying for the seat.

Former State Department official running for Congress in Southeast Michigan

LANSING - Former U.S. State Department official Bobby McKenzie announced today he will seek the Democratic nomination for Congress in Michigan's 11th District, which includes parts of Oakland and Wayne counties. Republican incumbent Kerry Bentivolio, R-Milford already faces a GOP challenge from attorney David Trott and former Secretary of State candidate Jocelyn Benson is also considering running as a Democrat.
