(MPRN-Cincinnati, Oh) The US Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Wayne County violated the speech and religious rights of a Christian group that staged an anti-Muslim demonstration at an Arab ethnic festival.

A state board that guards against corruption in the gaming industry violated the constitutional rights of four jockeys who refused to cooperate with a 2010 race-rigging investigation. 

State Attorney General Bill Schuette says he wants the court considering whether Michigan’s gay marriage ban can stand to put the process on the fast track.

The attorney general says he’ll seek a full-panel en banc hearing from the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. That would eliminate the need for a preliminary hearing before a smaller group of judges.

In a statement issued this afternoon, Schuette said a timely decision with minimal litigation would save citizens money.
