Allegan jail cost overrun fund increased

The extra money will come from a surplus in one of the county's insurance funds. The project to convert a former factory in Allegan into a new jail and sheriff's office got underway in early 2012.
ALLEGAN, MI -- The Allegan County Board of Commissioners has formally decided to cover the cost overruns at the jail and sheriff's office now under construction. Commissioners on Thursday decided to set the contingency budget for the project at 5 percent of total cost, bringing that budget up to $780,000.

Perrigo expanding in Allegan, Holland Township

Perrigo will bring 400 jobs and $200 million in investment at a new facility in Holland Township, Gov. Rick Snyder's office announced Wednesday. Another $42 million and 250 jobs will be centered at the company's headquarters in Allegan. The announcement came as Snyder touted 14 companies preparing to invest $1.1 billion and add 4,590 jobs in Michigan.
