Andy Helmboldt won a three-way Democratic primary while John Bizon defeated Calhoun County Commissioner Art Kale for Republican nomination
A political newcomer and a two-term Battle Creek city commissioner will face off in November for the 62nd District state House seat. Dr. John Bizon beat Calhoun County Board Chairman Art Kale 2,900-2,328 in the Republican primary Tuesday night, according to unofficial results. It was the first time Bizon has run for public office.

Battle Creek City Commissioner Helmboldt to Run for State House

Battle Creek City Commissioner Andy Helmboldt has announced he will seek the Democratic nomination for Michigan's 62nd District state House seat this year. "Our doors need to be open to everyone," Helmboldt said in a news release. "We need transparent government, barrier-free voting, and equal protecting for marriage and family rights for all our citizens.
