State Horseshoe Championships Come To Kalamazoo

Think of tossing horseshoes and several things probably come to mind, and all of them likely deal with relaxing. Local horseshoeing enthusiasts refer a few of the attributes of this chilled-out pastime as the “Three B’s” – beer, bar-be-cues and backyards. But this Labor Day weekend, a new brand of horseshoeing is coming to town, one that replaces banter over Budweisers with stone-cold concentration.

U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships To Be Held in Kalamazoo

After holding the Midwest and Pacific sectionals in Michigan last year, Kalamazoo has been chosen as the host city for the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in 2016, courtesy of the Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association. Synchronized skating is basically what it sounds like—figure skating with a lot more people.

WMU Instructor, PhD Student Wins National Poetry Prize
