BARRY TOWNSHIP, MI -- Victor Pierce was given two months pay with benefits as part of his agreement to resign as Barry Township police chief after several months of public scrutiny over his reserve force and allegations of police harassment. Pierce's annual salary was $42,500 a year, according to his employment agreement, which would make two months' pay $7,083.

DELTON, MI - In a 5-0 vote, the Barry Township Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to release the separation agreement with former police chief Victor Pierce and also to produce Pierce's personnel file. The action came at the request of the Kalamazoo Gazette, which sought the documents under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act.

Barry Township PD Chief Meeting Canceled

BARRY TOWNSHIP, MI -- Tuesday's meeting to discuss Victor Pierce's role as police chief in Barry Township has been canceled. Barry Township Clerk Debra Knight said the township didn't meet the 18-hour notice requirement. Knight said she attempted to post the information for the meeting to the township website Monday night but it didn't post until Tuesday morning.

DELTON - The Barry Township Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a personnel review of Police Chief Victor Pierce in response to continuing calls by some residents for his termination. The board unanimously voted to evaluate Pierce's job performance after a nearly two-hour closed-door session Monday night.
