BC Seeks State Development Certification

The city of Battle Creek will participate in a statewide program that aims to streamline its redevelopment process and better market the community to developers. Commissioners will vote at their regular meeting Tuesday on a resolution supporting the city's participation in the Michigan Economic Development Corp.'s Redevelopment Ready Communities initiative.

BC City Commissioners Pick Manager Finalists

Commissioners say they plan to begin interviewing the five finalists later this month.
Five finalists, including Interim City Manager Susan Bedsole, were selected Thursday night to interview for Battle Creek's permanent city manager position. Commissioners held a special meeting to discuss the latest in its search for Ken Tsuchiyama's permanent replacement. After reviewing applications during a closed session for about an hour, their list of 10 candidates was cut in half.
