It used to be that someone in Michigan was more likely to die in an auto accident than from firearms. But in the last three years that has changed. Freelance writer Pat Shellenbarger discovered that when he examined guns in Michigan for Bridge Magazine.  He spoke with WMUK's Gordon Evans

Economists at the University of Michigan say workers in the state's private sector earn about $4,000 less a year than the national average.

Governor Rick Snyder included more funding for state preschools in his budgetary plan today. According to Bridge Magazine, the governor suggested raising another 130 million dollars for preschool programs in the state, with a long term plan of spending about 240 million total by fiscal year 2015. Snyder said some of that money should go toward helping low-income families pay for preschool.
