A 2013 Cliburn Competition silver medalist is the next soloist to appear on The Gilmore Rising Stars Series. Beatrice Rana hails from Lecce, Italy, a small southern town where her parents, and teacher Benedetto Lupo, guided her musical development.

Anton Armstrong sees each member of the St. Olaf Choir as an emerging adult, whose participation in the world-renowned choir will affect the whole person, not just his or her musicianship. 

The Western Brass Quintet welcomed a new member this fall. Robert White, a former student of Western's trumpet professor Scott Thornburg, went on to earn a doctorate from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He returned to campus as a faculty member in September.

 A host of renowned Celtic musicians with Michigan ties will appear with the Battle Creek Symphony in its upcoming holiday concert. They include fiddle virtuoso Jeremy Kittel, a Michigan native whose credentials include a jazz degree from the Manhattan School of Music and performing/composing with the Turtle Island String Quartet.
