GRAND RAPIDS, MI - In an effort to cut costs, Calvin College is offering buyouts for up to seven faculty in its music, history and art departments. The Christian liberal arts college is working to cut annual expenses by $4.5 million by June 30, 2017, and the buyouts are needed to align faculty levels in each department with desired staffing goals, said college spokesman Matt Kucinski. (Lansing-MPRN) A state Senate panel will take up a bill on Tuesday that would allow college graduates to claim a tax credit based on student loan interest payments. 

A similar bill was introduced during the last session in the Senate, but stalled in the state House
