Ban on Unions for College Athletes Heads to Governor

Football players at Northwestern University sought certification earlier this year
A bill banning college student athletes from forming unions is on its way to Gov. Rick Snyder after receiving final passage in the Michigan Senate Tuesday. Without any discussion or committee hearings, the Senate voted 27-11, mostly along party lines, to pass the union ban.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The game time for the Western Michigan football game against Eastern Michigan on Nov. 15 at Waldo Stadium has been set for 2 p.m., school officials announced Monday. The Broncos (6-3, 4-1 MAC) are coming off of a 41-10 win at Miami (Ohio) will be looking for their fifth consecutive win while the Eagles (2-7, 1-4) will look to snap a three-game skid.

U of M Athletic Director Resigns

ANN ARBOR -- The Dave Brandon era is officially over at Michigan. With public criticism, controversy and constant protests swirling around Ann Arbor, Michigan president Mark Schlissel announced Friday afternoon that Brandon -- who formally became Michigan's athletic director in 2010 -- has agreed to resign from his post effective immediately.

Assistant WMU Football Coach Sues Penn State

Kenney joined Western's football program last year after he was dismissed by Penn State in 2012.
KALAMAZOO, MI - Bill Kenney, the offensive line and tight ends coach for Western Michigan University, filed a federal lawsuit Monday against Penn State University. The lawsuit, which seeks $1 million in damages, was filed by Kenney and former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno's son, Jay Paterno, for their dismissal from the Penn State football staff in January 2012.
