State Grants Provide $10.1-Million for After School Programs in Kalamazoo Over Five Years

KALAMAZOO, MI -- The Michigan Department of Education has awarded three grants totaling $10,125,00 over five years for after-school programming in Kalamazoo Public Schools. Communities in Schools of Kalamazoo, which runs the after-school programs, submitted the grant applications jointly with KPS.

Kalamazoo Communities in Schools launches capital campaign

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo is launching a campaign to raise at least $4.5 million to help more Kalamazoo students graduate on time. On Wednesday, the nonprofit opened the public phase of its three-year capital campaign. So far, CIS has raised more than $2.1 million toward the total needed to pay for three years of operating expenses.
