We're back on the air! So are our streaming services for WMUK-1, WMUK-2 and Park & Westnedge. Power has returned to all of the Kalamazoo campus of Western Michigan University as well, where we are housed. Classes are delayed until 10 a.m., however. And Consumers Energy continues to work on power outages elsewhere in the city.

Consumers Energy says it will stop using coal by 2040 and get 40 percent of its energy from renewable sources. The company’s remaining five coal plants employ about 500 people. It shuttered seven of its facilities two years ago.

"JACKSON, MI — After six years at the helm and 34 years with the company, John Russell, Consumers Energy president and CEO, will retire effective July 1. Jackson County native Patricia Poppe, 47, will take over Russell's role in July as he shifts to his expected position on the CMS Energy and Consumers Energy board of directors, according to a press release from the company." "MUSKEGON, MI – Hundreds of people turned out to the channel Sunday, Nov. 8 to get pictures of what's expected to be the last large freighter to deliver coal to the B.C. Cobb electric plant in Muskegon. Consumers Energy plans to shut down the plant on Muskegon Lake in 2016, in part because of tightening federal restrictions on power plant emissions." (MLive)
