Consumers Energy customers can "opt out" of the program and keep their old meters, at a cost.


Many in southwest Michigan are still without power after severe storms moved through the area last night.

Consumers Energy says about 20,000 customers are still without power in Calhoun County Tuesday afternoon. Power is also out for more than 5800 customers in Kalamazoo County and more than 1600 in Saint Joseph County.
