Last week, Michael Miller of Wellspring: Cori Terry & Dancers did a run through of his choreography called “Crackers in Bed.” The dancers posed to recreate familiar Norman Rockwell paintings and then transitioned to the next scene to the tune of a modern DJ.

Miller will premiere the dance at this year’s Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival also known as RAD Fest.

The festival will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Wellspring Theatre in Kalamazoo's Epic Center.

If there’s one thing artists hate it’s thinking inside the box. But that’s not a problem for musicians from the Red Sea Pedestrians and Wellspring Cori Terry and Dancers. They’re reaching outside their comfort zones with their collaboration “Old World New,” which premieres Thursday through Sunday.

The Quinn School of Irish Dance will perform this weekend at the Blackrock Medieval Festival at Olde World Village in Augusta. Erin Quinn opened the studio 12 years ago where Irish step dancing classes are held year-round. She says not many people realize the school is here or that it’s one of only four schools in Michigan that is certified to compete internationally by a dance commission in Ireland.
