Report Shows Employment Up, but Companies Looking for Skilled Workers

Economist Brian Long says a lack of workers may limit expansion

KALAMAZOO, MI - The good news for the Kalamazoo economy is that employment is rising and unemployment is falling, says Kalamazoo-based economist Brian Long. The bad news? "Right now we still have companies that are looking for people but they can't find people with the technical skills that they need to hire," said Long, who produces a monthly report for the National Association of Purchasing Management.
