Helmboldt, Bizon Advance in 62nd House District

Andy Helmboldt won a three-way Democratic primary while John Bizon defeated Calhoun County Commissioner Art Kale for Republican nomination
A political newcomer and a two-term Battle Creek city commissioner will face off in November for the 62nd District state House seat. Dr. John Bizon beat Calhoun County Board Chairman Art Kale 2,900-2,328 in the Republican primary Tuesday night, according to unofficial results. It was the first time Bizon has run for public office.

KALAMAZOO, MI - Jon Hoadley had a clear message for his supporters Tuesday night after declaring victory in his bid for the Democratic nomination to represent the 60 th state House District. "Job well done," Hoadley, 30, said while a crowd of supporters at Mangia Mangia in Kalamazoo cheered his name.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Kalamazoo-area Republicans and Democrats are picking state and local candidates for the November ballot in today's primary election. Voters also are deciding on a number of county, school and township tax requests, as well as Proposal 1, a statewide request to phase out the personal property tax on commercial property and implement a mechanism for replacing the revenue stream to local governments.
