Enbridge begins dredging, two sections of Kalamazoo River closed

BATTLE CREEK, MI - Enbridge Inc. has begun an EPA-ordered dredging project in the Kalamazoo River, which will dredge 350,000 cubic yards along 12 miles of the river to remove contaminated sediment. The company has closed two sections of the river, and plans to close a third, for the project, which will cover a total of 12 miles of the river.

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI - The Comstock Township Planning Commission voted unanimously Thursday to refer Enbridge Inc.'s site application for its dredge work north of Morrow Lake to the zoning board of appeals. More than 15 people people spoke before the a large turnout at the Comstock Community Auditorium, most voicing opposition to the site Enbridge has chosen to locate a temporary dredge pad and water treatment facility.
