WMU Launches Transportation Research Center

Officials at Western Michigan University say the work of an institute for studying transportation will be to improve people’s quality of life by giving them more options for how to get around.

The new Transportation Research Center for Livable Communities or TRCLC is one of 33 centers around the country created with grant money from the US Department of Transportation. The TRCLC will have about a $3 million budget to work with annually.

Battle Creek officials recommend cutting transit services

City Commission is expected to take up issue on February fourth
City officials said their hands are tied, and without the money, transit services paid for by federal grant dollars will have to be eliminated before funding runs out in mid-February. "Personally, and as a manager, I wish we weren't here," Battle Creek Transit Manager Rich Werner said during a public meeting Tuesday afternoon.
