film credit

(MPRN-Lansing) Legislation to end Michigan’s film incentive program could face a major obstacle in the state Senate. House Bill 4122 is moving quickly through the state House. But Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof (R-West Olive) says he is not eager to take it up.

(MPRN-Lansing) There’s a new fight underway at the state Capitol over Michigan’s tax credit for film, TV, and digital video projects. And some advocates for the subsidy say the debate itself is harming efforts to create a thriving Michigan movie and video entertainment business.

The Michigan House is set to consider a budget bill that would direct more than a hundred million dollars of extra funding to the Department of Community Health.

Gongwer News Service reports that the bill aims to remedy a gap in funding for the Health Insurance Claims Assessment. It’s been approved 19 to 0 by the House Appropriations Committee, with all Republicans voting in favor and all Democrats abstaining.
