Tia Fuller celebrates 'Angelic Warrior' within

Fontana Chamber Arts will feature one of today's young jazz stars tomorrow night. Tia Fuller is balancing careers as a professor of music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, as a hired soloist for Beyonce's touring group, and as bandleader, composer, and recording artist.

Soovin Kim, David Colson on 'A Soldier's Tale'

A WWII draftee faces death by firing squad for desertion. He'll be allowed to live if he serves out the rest of the war. That's the extreme situation dealt with in "A Soldier's Tale," a unique stage piece of narration, dance, and music featuring a 1918 score by Igor Stravinsky and updated, modern (sometimes vulgar) text by Kurt Vonnegut. 

A collaboration between Fontana Chamber Arts and the WMU School of Music, it will receive performances in the Dalton Center Multi-Media Room Friday and Saturday.

Tokyo Quartet's Kikuei Ikeda: 'My life changed in 5 seconds'

Fontana Chamber Arts presents the Tokyo String Quartet on its farewell tour this Saturday in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Violinist Kikuei Ikeda joined the quartet in 1974, five years after it was formed. He says that his acceptance by phone was the most momentous 5 seconds of his life. Along with the opportunity to play at the highest level on world stages, the decision required him to leave Japan to live in the United States for four decades.
