KALAMAZOO, MI - A Western Michigan University student has filed suit against a Detroit meat-packing plant claiming she was badly sickened last month by an E. coli outbreak that prompted the company to recall 1.8 million pounds of ground beef.

A Kalamazoo college student, Rachel Tamminga, 22, has filed a lawsuit against Wolverine Packing Co. after she said she was hospitalized for six days with E. Coli O157:H7 poisoning.
