Senior Judge on Kalamazoo County Circuit Court to Retire

KALAMAZOO, MI - J. Richardson Johnson, the senior judge on Kalamazoo County's circuit court bench, is calling it a career. Johnson, 68, announced his retirement to colleagues Wednesday, the same day he mailed his letter of resignation to Gov. Rick Snyder's office. His last day will be Oct. 31.

New judges in Kalamazoo and Paw Paw

Governor Rick Snyder has announced two judicial appointments for Southwest Michigan.

The governor’s office says he has appointed former Kalamazoo County Assistant Prosecutor Scott Pierangeli to the Kalamazoo County Probate Court. He will replace Donald Halstead who resigned this past summer.

The governor also announced that attorney Jeffrey Dufon of Kalamazoo will serve as a judge on the 36th District Circuit Court in Van Buren County. He replaces Judge Paul Hamre, who retired this summer.

Berrien County wants to keep judges

The State Court Administrative Office has recommended eliminating one judicial position
ST. JOSEPH - Berrien County commissioners Thursday voted to ask state legislators from the area to work to block a proposal to reduce the number of judges in the county from 11 to 10.
