(MPRN-Lansing) People convicted of crimes would have to listen to victim statements at their sentencing hearings – if a bill making its way through the state Legislature becomes law. 

(MPRN-Lansing) The Genesee County prosecutor is asking judges to make sure two dozen felons sentenced as juveniles to life without parole don’t have a chance at freedom. 

"It took two phone calls Tuesday before John Hallacy knew he had been appointed to the Calhoun County Circuit Court bench. In the morning Hallacy was contacted by a staff member of Gov. Rick Snyder who asked where he would be about 3 p.m. for a call from the governor.' (Battle Creek Enquirer)
