KALAMAZOO, MI -- The Kalamazoo City Commission will meet in special session June 10 to determine how to move forward with another search firm as it restarts its search for a new Kalamazoo city manager. Commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. June 10 to review search firms and take another look at the commission-developed city manager profile.

"I don't think the question is whether we had competent people come in here," said Commissioner Don Cooney. "I think we had very competent people come in here. The question is do we have somebody in that pool who's a good fit for the city."

The commission, during a special meeting Wednesday, decided to reopen its search for a city manager without the firm it has worked with since February. Commissioners voted unanimously to terminate a contract with California-based search consultant Bob Murray & Associates.
