People who encounter oil chemicals in the surface waters of the Kalamazoo River need not worry about their long-term health. That’s the conclusion of the Michigan Department of Community Health, which released its findings Wednesday.

An Enbridge Energy pipeline dumped a massive amount of oil into the river following a rupture in July 2010. Nearly four years later, the MDCH says people might still come in contact with oil sheen and globules if they swim, wade or boat on the river.
