New Executive Director Plans to Build on History at KIA

KALAMAZOO, MI -- It took "something great" to convince Belinda Tate to leave her hometown. That something was Kalamazoo. Tate, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., spent the last 15 years as the director of the Diggs Gallery on Winston-Salem State University. In July, she was named the executive director of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.

KIA Gets New Executive Director

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts will soon have a new executive director. Belinda Ann Tate will take over on September 8th. She replaces former KIA director James Bridenstine, who is retiring after 24 years in the job.

For the last 15 years, Tate has run the Diggs Gallery at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. She’s credited with enlarging its collection significantly while increasing student involvement in the gallery.
