PORTAGE, MI - Despite calls for compromise from the mayor and an hour of debate and repeated tie votes Monday night, the Portage City Council remains without a new mayor pro-tem. That second-in-command position won't be decided until the council chooses a new seventh member in December.

ALAMO TOWNSHIP, MI Multiple Alamo Township resident expressed outrage at a special meeting Thursday to discuss a lewd conduct complaint against supervisor Lou Conti, with some even calling for his immediate resignation. The board spent more than an hour in closed session discussing the complaint with the township attorney, John Lohrstorfer, before re-opening the meeting for discussion and public comment.
