The Nottawa Stone School

Rural life in a one-room school district was simpler than today. Doors were seldom locked. There is a one-room school in St. Joseph County which has been preserved for students and others to experience that time in American education called the Nottawa Stone School.

Friday night at 6 p.m., the Kalamazoo Jaycees will take residents on a ghost tour through downtown Kalamazoo. Although the tour is mostly historical, it reminds us of just how many haunted tales the city holds. 

Horticulture is defined as the science or art of growing fruit, vegetables, and other plants. Even though horticulture is smaller scale farming than agriculture, it helps feed people around the world. Liberty Hyde Bailey, considered the Father of Horticulture, was born in South Haven, Michigan. 

The Ladies Library Association in Kalamazoo has recently broken ground on a $2.1 million project to make their historic 130-year-old building more accessible and useful for the community. The Ladies Library Association building in downtown Kalamazoo, finished in 1879 is on the National Register of Historic Places.
