New Poll Shows Tighter Race for Governor, Peters Increasing Lead Over Land for Senate

A new statewide poll from EPIC-MRA shows Republican Gov. Rick Snyder now leading Democratic challenger Mark Schauer 46%-43%, compared to 47%-38% in May. In the race for Michigan's open U.S. Senate seat, the poll shows U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Township, leading former Michigan Secretary of State Republican Terri Lynn Land, by 9 points, 45%-36%.

LANSING, MI -- A new national poll shows the gap between Republican Gov. Rick Snyder and challenger former Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer may be closing. The poll, conducted for NBC News, shows that, if the election were held today, 46 percent of registered voters would back Snyder, while 44 percent would vote for Schauer.
