State Senate Medicaid vote may happen Tuesday

Groups that support and oppose the expansion of Medicaid have mounted major lobbying campaigns in Lansing.
LANSING - For nearly three months, state Senators have been bombarded with billboards, e-mails and advertising from both sides of the Medicaid expansion issue. And it all comes down to a possible vote Tuesday on whether to approve a plan that would provide health care insurance coverage to an additional 470,000 low-income Michiganders.

Lansing - A Senate committee is likely to vote on a Medicaid expansion bill Wednesday, after it was re-written by a Senate work group since passing in the House in June. The bill would reform Michigan's Medicaid system and expand it to all adults with incomes under 133 percent of the federal poverty line.

LANSING - The Medicaid expansion debate in the Senate will have to wait for at least a couple of weeks. The Senate work group is meeting privately twice a week to look at and tweak the expansion bill passed by the House of Representatives in June.
