Poll shows Peters as early front-runner for Michigan Senate seat, with Land his closest Republican rival

"With all the candidates so anonymous at this point the main thing these early results tell us is that in a Democratic state the likely default outcome is the election of another Democratic Senator," according to PPP. Poll finds Schauer with slight lead over Snyder for governor

Lansing - In the first statewide poll since former U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer last week entered the 2014 race for governor, the Battle Creek Democrat barely leads Republican Gov. Rick Snyder. Public Policy Polling of Raleigh, N.C., found Schauer ahead of Snyder 42 percent to 38 percent in a telephone poll of 697 registered voters.

Former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land will run for the Republican nomination to replace Democrat Carl Levin in the U.S. Senate. Land is the first Republican to announce a bid for the seat. U.S. Rep Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, U.S. Rep Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township, have both said they are considering to run, but have not commented further.
