(MPRN-Lansing) Lawmakers need to be more transparent. That was the message sent by the House Wednesday when it approved bills to expand Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

(MPRN-Lansing) The Freedom of Information Act could be changing in Michigan. A House committee approved a bill Thursday that would prevent public bodies like the government from suing someone that requests information through a FOIA request.

(MPRN-Lansing) An effort to expand Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act could move forward this week in the state legislature.

The public would not be able to obtain certain information about pipelines and other infrastructure under legislation in the state House. Supporters of House Bill 4540 say it’s an attempt to protect critical infrastructure from being attacked.
